  • Customer: The Customer Service Team is committed to building the foundation of IndyGo's customer experience (internally & externally) with a focus on developing a customer service philosophy and customer appreciation program.

 

What I Have Heard & Done

  • Gym facility at 1501 W Washington St. 

  • Talking to Activate - looking into personal trainers 

  • Fresh food in vending machines – farmer fridge - city & airport

  • Piloting free coffee at CTC lounge in coming weeks!

  • Removed condition of having a GED and HS diploma for Operators

  • 2 - 2.5 hour splits are more reasonable.

    • With the October 27 pick: 63% of Saturday work is straights. 

    • With the February pick: Planning is working to eliminate all swings (4 hour splits) and have a max of no more than 2.5 hour splits. 

      • Across all work - looking to increase straights to 50 - 52% of work in Feb. 

  • Operators can now wear sport team hats, pins, scarves, etc - IndyGo logo must be present for community - safe place

  • Every employee has an IndyGo email address - check it!

  • Looking into protective shields on buses for Operators

  • Working on a intranet for employees

Renovations
Office Renovations (Phases 1-4) Project

  • Phase 4: completion by Dec. 31, working to make sooner. 

    • North lounge, North offices

Vehicle Wash/Paint Booth/Door Widening Project 

  • The Door Widening demolition: begun - completed by Nov. 8.  

  • Demolition of the Paint Booth: begins Nov. 11. 

  • Vehicle Wash demolition: begins with control and tank rooms - Oct. 30.  

    • LaTeeka is working on procuring mobile wash units (2) for usage during the demolition and installation of the wash system.

Training Facility & Contingency Site

  • Designs are completed & going out for bid after Jan. 1.

    • Hoping to start construction: Spring 2020

  • Location: 21st and Montcalm - off routes 5, 6, & 25 - by Riverside Elementary School

Security Screen Doors/Emergency Exit Doors

  • Designs are being completed and will be ready for procurement after the beginning of the year.  

  • Adding in the Emergency Exit Doors into this project will hopefully create a better package for contractors.

Maintenance & Additional Renovations

  • Happening in phases and includes: 

    • Phase 1:

      • North Lounge: By Dec. 31

      • renovations of offices and meeting rooms: by Dec. 31

      • Front Security Desk & Lobby restroom

Julia Carson Transit Center

  • No final decisions yet; items being considered:

    • additional space for the Lounge/Break Room area

    • how to better utilize the Retail Space

    • staff office space on 2nd floor

  • Working on level boarding upgrades project for design completion 2020.

Red Line

  • 230,000 rides (not riders) on the Red Line in Sept.

  • Sunday, Oct. 27 – Red Line will continue North to 96th and South to Greenwood Park Mall (getting rid of local circulator buses).   

  • In the future – will have BRT bus stops from 66th to 96th and UIndy to Greenwood Park Mall. 

  • Going to extend the Red Line to both county lines, construction would start 2023 - 2025.
     

Purple Line 

  • The Purple Line is impacted by Citizens and drainage issues.

  • Construction start: 2021

  • 31 proposed stops (23 new, 8 from Red Line)

  • Distance: 14.8 miles

  • 60% dedicated lanes
     

Blue Line

  • Blue line is impacted by INDOT construction on the North Split. 

  • Construction start: 2023

  • 38 stations

  • Distance: 24 miles

  • 70% dedicated lanes

 

Local Route Changes

  • Every route, every day.

  • Weekend service enhancements.

  • Weekday evening service additions

  • Incremental frequency adjustments

Capital Plan

  • First five-year capital plan adopted 2017

  • Updated each year (in August) since

  • Five-year outlook of revenue and capital expenditures including each division across IndyGo 

  • Current plan: $552 million in capital expenditures through 2025

    • Additional rapid transit lines (Purple, Blue, Red Line Marion County Extensions)

    • Stop and shelter amenities

    • New buses

    • Upgrades to our facility

    • New safety & security equipment

    • Several other projects

  • The current capital plan is available on our website on the “projects” page.
     

Super Stops

  • Super Stops are in the 90% design phase. With DPW approval, hoping to start construction late Spring. 

  •  Maintain on-time performance, speed up the boarding process, and increase passenger comfort and safety.

  • Locations:

    • on Delaware at New York

    • on Alabama at New York

    • on Delaware at North

    • on Alabama at North

    • on Fort Wayne Avenue between Sahm Street and 9th Street

 

New Buses

  • Getting new buses: March 2020 - 15 - 40 ft Gillig diesels. 

  • There are still 2 -60 foot buses out of the initial order of 31 that have not arrived yet.

  • Bid out for 40 foot electric buses. This has not been awarded to any company yet.

Customer Service 

  • Coming in house @ CTC.

  • Customer service call center and service desk is piloting Sunday availability by the end of the year.

    • Call center and service desk hours will be the same. 

Budget

  • 2019 & 2020 budgets - 62% investment in our employees and programs of the total budget of the respective years. 

  • Operations division consists of about 83% of our workforce pool. 

  • Over these last two years, IndyGo has budgeted for not only huge Infrastructure related projects but also projects such as IndyGo Intranet, Website Development, Mobile App, and other technology related projects. 

  • Our budgets is 6-9 process involving various levels of review and approvals from IndyGo’s Board to City County Council (City Oversight Authority) to the Department of Local Government Finance (State Agency)
