One Smart Cookie: Meet Eldred Jones

Eldred Jones could be described as a Superwoman. Cookie, as she is known by her friends, does not sport a flashy cape or golden lasso – but she is armed with super-strength. Cookie is the mother of nine, gives of herself in volunteer work, is earning her master’s degree, and is a small business owner.

Cookie spent over 20 years as a legal assistant. “I loved helping people. They needed to know that the person handling their situation was competent, efficient, and would treat them as a priority. My love of helping people and motivating them to achieve their own goals led me to starting my own business offering virtual assistant services.”

Staying the path of growing her business has not been easy, though. “One of my biggest challenges is working with clients who make unreasonable demands of my time. As a woman-owned business owner, I had to find strength and learn to set boundaries.” Cookie appreciates that she has limited time, energy, and resources – and  resources such as Comcast Business and Effectv could have made all the difference during my journey.”

Comcast has developed programs to empower business owners with the expertise and resources needed to navigate their way to success. Comcast Business focuses on technology tools & services, while Comcast Effectv is the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable and provides business consulting, media, and creative production services.

Comcast’s recent campaign, Comcast RISE, utilizes Effectv and Comcast Business services. Comcast RISE partners with small businesses to help them grow their business and in turn, impact their communities. To date, Comcast RISE has served small businesses in 285 cities across 29 states, including a strong audience of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color-owned, small businesses.

Cookie works hard every day to keep her business going, saying “My business is my passion – and it’s important to surround my children with real role models.” While she may not be the DC Comics Superwoman, she is an exceptional woman who, like Comcast, is using her power to help her family, customers, and communities rise.
